Music

Martin Luther said:  “Next to the Word of God, music deserves the highest praise. The gift of language combined with the gift of song was given to man that he should proclaim the Word of God through music.”

Here at Our Father, we believe that music IS the universal language and being called together to proclaim the word of God is a high and holy calling.

We use a variety of instruments throughout worship:  i.e., organ, piano, guitars, flutes, trumpets, saxophone, conga drums etc., in addition to our voices,

to pray, praise, speak and proclaim God’s word through music.  Some Sundays, we may be singing in Swahili or Spanish, Greek or Latin.

We also offer Spanish texts for hymns as well, when available.

Our Chancel Choir meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.  We welcome all people, 6th grade and up to be a part of this Choir.

There are also opportunities for youth and adults as soloists, solo instrumentalists, etc.

Additional rehearsal times with instrumentalists are random throughout the week.  At least one major work is done per year, usually during the Season of Advent, prior to Christmas.

{{include a full bulletin in ‘worship’ section and have link here to it.  Make it clear this is just a sample and not an attempt to show every week’s bulletin!}}  Our All-Inclusive Worship Bulletin means that we can use a variety of settings and hymns throughout worship in addition to more current contemporary music, providing each person with a song to carry them throughout their week.  Worship is a collaborative process done with intentionality and deliberation by Pastor Jesse and Myrtle Norman.

Our goal is for every person who gathers with us for worship to experience the living, breathing, loving, faithful God at work in us.  That experience inspires us to grow together in faith, love and service by loving, serving and caring for others.
