Christmas 2022

Make new friends at Christmas => people you will still know next Christmas!

Our goal is not increased Christmas attendance – although that is likely to happen

Our goal is helping people know God’s love.

Churches have seen good results over the past year with similar efforts.  It works!  People want to know about your church!!

The plan is for four, one hour Zoom trainings/discussions, plus regular “simple ideas” texts, and any help you need.  (If I don’t know the answer, I know someone who does!)

After a general overview, the three stages are:

  1. Getting people to know you, like you, and consider an invitation
  2. Planning for possible events including things you may not have done before:  Blue Christmas, a no-practice & multi-generational pageant, singing carols around a bonfire, plus other ideas from other churches.  This stage also discusses how to welcome people & make them comfortable when they do visit with a focus on obtaining contact information for the next sage.
  3. MOST IMPORTANT – studies show that typically less than 1 in 5 people will return even once, and that is because the church has effectively ‘ghosted’ them.  Specific, easy, cheap methods to keep in touch will be offered.  All of these are intended to be gentle and friendly, not pushy or threatening.

The overview presentation is a great opportunity to get your leaders onboard! In about an hour, I go over the entire process, noting that specific “how to” information is provided in the other Zooms.

One extremely important step is to recruit a team to help. It is not hard! It does not take a lot of time! It can be done from anywhere at anytime! I am always available if anyone gets stuck! This overview presentation is a great way for people to explore what’s happening before making a commitment.

Unfortunately when the words ‘recruit a team’ are heard, most churches go to the same people. Yes, you need some people who have proved dependable. But for most churches this is something new so approach new people. One specific group would be people who were very active but now are physically limited. Many of them keep in touch with kids and grandkids via social media so have the basic skills. Another group are people who have not found their ministry yet.

At all times in all ways, I am here to help!

And yes, there is no cost . This is my passion, my ministry and my joy. (I just don’t always show the bills to my wife!)

RULE: Do not overwhelm yourself. Do what you can do in your context.

First Zoom will be Tuesday, October 25 @ 11am and 7pm Eastern USA time. (Same presentation)

This will be an especially good Zoom to invite church leaders to watch even if they won’t later be involved because it will present the data we work from, and overall process. This also makes it a good time to invite people who are curious, but not yet committed to help.
